The methods described in this book are based upon sound tailoring practices, widely recognized and used, which the writer has adapted to today's tailored fashions and fabrics. The methods are streamlined, but not shortcuts. They are based on a logical sequence of construction. To benefit from this book, this sequence should be followed. It begins with an appreciation of tailoring and proceeds through fabric and pattern selection to the completed garment.
All chapters are important, since each contributes to the total experience. Personal experience in teaching tailoring has helped identify the proven methods presented here. No attempts has been made to show how many ways a single process can be performed. Instead, a variety of processes have been included.
