The success of this or any system of patternmaking will depend upon the accuracy with which the measurements are taken and how carefully those measurements are transferred to the paper pattern. Since the patterns are constructed from basic blocks, the patterns will be consistent in fit - good or bad.

The system of making basic blocks that is presented here will work on any set of measurements for any body size. - junior petite through larger women's sizes. The Size 10 used for the examples is a commercially accepted size for popular priced garments. In the chapter on Men's Casual Wear, the sample size is for a 40" (101.8 cm) chest and a 32" (81.3 cm) waist.
